Honors and Awards

Any member of the GLATA currently in good standing may nominate an individual for an award. All nominations are due to the GLATA Vice President no later than October 1 of the prior year. The Vice President will Chair the Awards Committee which includes the State Representative of each GLATA state or their designee. Awards will be presented at the Annual Winter Meeting each March.

 

The GLATA recognized awards are:

2.                GLATA DEDICATED SERVICE AWARD

3.                GLATA HONOARY MEMBERSHIP AWARD

4.                GLATA OUTSTANDING EDUCATOR AWARD

5.                GLATA SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS (Through the NATAREF)

6.                GLATA RESEARCH AWARDS (Through the GLATA Research/Assistance Committee)

GLATA GOLDEN PINNACLE AWARD

Purpose

•To recognize those members who have provided outstanding leadership to the Great Lakes Athletic Trainers’ Association. (highest honor for a District IV/GLATA member)
Criteria

•Nominees must be active members of the GLATA for a minimum of 15 years preceding their nomination.
•Nominees may be nominated no more than every five years. Any unsuccessful nomination will be retained and reconsidered for one additional year after the original nomination.     
•Nominees must have served in a leadership capacity for the GLATA for a minimum of five (5) years. This may include serving as an officer, committee chair, educational program chair, etc.
•Nominees must have exhibited exemplary leadership in their service role, significantly advancing the mission and goals of the GLATA and, the profession of athletic training.
 

GLATA DEDICATED SERVICE AWARD

Purpose

•To recognize those members who have demonstrated a superior level of excellence in managing and completing a project(s) assigned by the Great Lakes Athletic Trainers’ Association Executive Committee, with the goal and outcome of creating a positive image of the GLATA and/or who have assisted the Executive Committee in furthering the goals and vision of the GLATA Leadership.
Criteria

•Nominees must be active members of the GLATA for at least 5 years.
•Nominees must have chaired or directed a specific initiative to further the goals of the GLATA.
•Nominees must have taken direction and created a positive image for the GLATA while assisting the GLATA EC with its vision.
•Nominees must have demonstrated measurable outcomes of their efforts. This may be in the form of a new program or initiative, print materials, educational experiences, etc.
•Nominees must have shown evidence of involving and leading other members in the process of developing the project.
 

GLATA HONORARY MEMBERSHIP AWARD

Purpose

•To recognize those non ATC individuals or corporations who have demonstrated significant contributions to athletic training which have had a positive impact on furthering the goals of the GLATA.
Criteria

•Nominees need not be GLATA members. Individuals who are Associate members, International, or Supplier members of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association may be nominated.
•GLATA certified members are not eligible for award.
•No minimum years of service to the organization is required.
 

GLATA OUTSTANDING EDUCATOR AWARD

Purpose

•To recognize those members who have significantly contributed to the education of GLATA members through academic presentations, published manuscripts or editorials, educational program development, or other educational activities.
Criteria

•Nominees must be active members of the GLATA for at least five (5) years prior to their nomination.
•Nominees must show specific evidence of making a significant educational contribution to the GLATA membership through academic presentations, published manuscripts or editorials, educational program development, or other educational activities.

 NATA Honors & Awards Criteria
» Hall of Fame (prerequisite: 25 years certified) Reserved for those who have had an exemplary career as a certified athletic trainer
» Most Distinguished Athletic Trainer (prerequisite: 20 years certified) Career contributions at the state, district and national levels
» Athletic Trainer Service Award (prerequisite: 15 years certified) Reflective primarily of contributions at local and state levels
» President's Challenge Award Recognition of a physician or other health care professional that is an advocate of the athletic training profession
» Honorary Membership A non-athletic trainer who has contributed to the growth of our profession and association
