Honors and Awards

GLATA members in good standing may nominate a colleague for a GLATA or NATA award.

GLATA Awards

All nominations for GLATA Awards (1-4) are due to the GLATA Vice President no later than September 15 of the calendar year preceding the subsequent March Annual Meeting. The Vice President will chair the GLATA Honors and Awards Committee, which includes the State Representative of from each GLATA state or designee. Awards will be presented at the Annual Meeting each March.

GLATA Golden Pinnacle Award

Purpose:  To recognize those members who have provided outstanding leadership to the Great Lakes Athletic Trainers’ Association. This is consider the highest honor for a District 4 / GLATA member.

Nomination Deadline:  September 15

Criteria:

  • Nominees must be active members of the GLATA for a minimum of 15 years preceding nomination.
  • Nominees may be nominated no more than every five years. Any unsuccessful nomination will be retained and reconsidered for one additional year after the original nomination.
  • Nominees must have served in a leadership capacity for the GLATA for a minimum of five (5) years. This may include serving as an officer, committee chair/coordinator, educational program chair, etc.
  • Nominees must have exhibited exemplary leadership in their service role, significantly advancing the mission and goals of the GLATA and the profession of athletic training.


 

GLATA Dedicated Service Award

Purpose:  To recognize those members who have demonstrated a superior level of excellence in managing and completing  project(s) assigned by the Great Lakes Athletic Trainers’ Association Executive Committee, with the goal and outcome of creating a positive image of the GLATA and/or who have assisted the Executive Committee in furthering the goals and vision of the GLATA Leadership.

Nomination Deadline:  September 15

Criteria:

  • Nominees must be active members of the GLATA for at least five (5) years.
  • Nominees must have chaired or directed a specific initiative to further the goals of the GLATA.
  • Nominees must have taken direction and created a positive image for the GLATA while assisting the GLATA EC with its vision.
  • Nominees must have demonstrated measurable outcomes of their efforts. This may be in the form of a new program or initiative, print materials, educational experiences, etc.
  • Nominees must have shown evidence of involving and leading other members in the process of developing the project.


 

GLATA Honorary Membership Award

Purpose:  To recognize those non-AT individuals or corporations who have demonstrated significant contributions to athletic training which have resulted in a positive impact on GLATA.

Nomination Deadline:  September 15

Criteria:

  • Nominees need not be GLATA members. Individuals who are Associate, International, or Supplier Members of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association may be nominated.
  • GLATA certified members are not eligible for award.
  • No minimum years of service to the organization is required.


 

GLATA Outstanding Educator Award

Purpose:  To recognize those members who have significantly contributed to the education of GLATA members through academic presentations, published manuscripts or editorials, educational program development, or other educational activities.

Nomination Deadline:  September 15

Criteria:

  • Nominees must be active members of the GLATA for at least five (5) years prior to nomination.
  • Nominees must show specific evidence of making a significant educational contribution to the GLATA membership through academic presentations, published manuscripts or editorials, educational program development, or other educational activities.

 

GLATA Student Senate Preceptor Of The Year

Purpose:  To recognize an outstanding preceptor within the Great Lakes Athletic Trainers’ Association for their hard work and influence on the students within District 4.

Deadline:  September 15

Criteria:

  • Nominees must be GLATA members.
  • Nominees must be a preceptor within District 4 supervising an Athletic Training student at an accredited Athletic Training program.
  • Nominees must display student leadership and have contributed to student growth and development.

NATA Awards

All nominations are due to NATA no later than October 1 of the calendar year preceding that subsequent June Annual Meeting and Clinical Symposium.  Recipients will be honored at the NATA Annual Meeting and Clinical Symposium in June.

The NATA recognized awards are:

  1. Hall of Fame - Recognizes those who (1) have been an active member of the NATA for at least 25 years, and (2) have had a exemplary career as an athletic trainer.
  2. Most Distinguished Athletic Trainer - Honors career contributions at the state, district and national levels for those who have been active members of the NATA for at least 20 years.
  3. Athletic Trainer Service Award - Honors career contributions primarily at local and state levels for those who have been active members of the NATA for at least 15 years.
  4. President's Challenge Award - Recognizes a physician or other healthcare professional who is an advocate of the athletic training profession.
  5. Honorary Membership - Awarded to a non-athletic trainer who has contributed to the growth of the profession and NATA.

EBP Courses Available from GLATA

Your association has partnered with Innovative CEUs to provide home study access to the Evidence Based Practice (EBP) CEU course which we offer at the Annual Meeting.  Combining the audio and Powerpoint slides from our Annual Meeting, participants have access to the latest research from leading authorities in clinical care and evidence based practice.
