6.9.08 Call for Proposals

The Great Lakes Athletic Trainers' Association Education Committee is inviting proposals for professional presentations at the 2009 Winter Meeting in Fort Wayne, IN, March 15-16, 2009. Athletic trainers, athletic training educators, and affiliated professionals are encouraged to submit proposals for the general sessions and /or workshops, with current need in the area of Athletic Training Education.

Preference will be given to those proposals that address the practical application of research findings and that would make a valuable contribution to the understanding of the practice or pedagogy of athletic training. Click on the below link to access the online submission form.

Proposed Constitutional Change for March 2009

The President-Elect, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer (R 3/15/93) shall be nominated on/after the Annual District Winter Meeting. Ballots will be distributed to the voting membership after January 1. The election will be completed within a forty-five day period and successful candidates will be installed at the Annual District Winter Meeting each for a term of two years (except the NATA District IV Director). The President-Elect and Secretary elections will be on opposite years of the Vice President and Treasurer. The NATA District IV Director shall be nominated after the Annual District Winter Meeting and be included with the officers of said year based on rotation in the office. Term of office will be three two years. The Executive Board members shall assume their functions and responsibilities after old business has been concluded at the Annual District Winter Meeting. The President-Elect shall automatically assume the office of President immediately following the conclusion of the President's term of office.

I move that the GLATA revise the Constitution & bylaws regarding district director nomination eligibility to read:

ORIGINAL: Must be a past officer of the District IV Executive Board.

NEW: Must be a past officer/member of the District IV Executive council; must have served on the council within the past 10 years; must have served at least 2 years on the council, to be brought forward to the membership in March 2008 at the March Business Meeting.

4.7.08 NATA StarTRACKS Leadership Program

The StarTRACKS program is designed for individuals interested in the study of leadership. The curriculum developed is vigorous and is expected to take up to two years to complete. The program requires a combination of reading, online research, workshops, and community experience such as Toastmasters. For specific details on the curriculum contact Judy Pulice at jpulice@nata.org.

The GLATA is sponsoring two (2) Leadership Scholars in 2008-2010. Upon completion of the course of study, Leadership Scholars will be awarded a Certificate of Leadership. As a sponsored Leadership Scholar, the selected members become official participants of the program. Click [here] for a program application instructions.


3.28.08 2008 GLATA Executive Board Elections

Call for Nominations

Nominations are open for the 2008 GLATA Executive Board Election. Online Nomination Forms are available at www.glata.org/elections/nominationform.htm.

Positions open for Election include:

  1. District Director Elect
  2. Vice-President
  3. Treasurer

Nominations will be accepted until October 1, 2008. Accepted Candidate nomination information will be posted on the GLATA website within 7-days of receipt.

Due to a formatting error, the March 2008 GLATA E-Blast concerning proposed GLATA constitutional amendments may have contained errors. The below text contains the exact wording & formatting of the proposed change:
