2008 GLATA PUBLIC RELATIONS CONTEST WINNERS

(IL) Emily Whitson, ATC…..Hopedale Sports Medicine ( Hopedale, Illinois)
Project(s): Attained local NATM Proclamations, multiple articles and interviews in local and regional press outlets, and hosted numerous presentations on the role of the athletic trainer.

(IN) Catherine Stemmons, ATC … Indiana State University, Terra Haute, IN
Project: Indiana State’s Senior Athletic Training Class took part in the 2007Terra Haute Community Health Fair. They created educational posters on MRSA and Posture and Leg Length Discrepancy. They also provided physical assessments during the event.

(MN) Wendy Potratz, ATC ….. Cass Lake, MN
Project: Authored a children’s book about sportsmanship that introduces the readers to certified athletic trainers. In the parents guide – parents are directed to the NATA for safety ideas. The book is being promoted by the National Center for Sports Safety.

(OH) Hollie Kozak…. Summa Center For Sports Medicine, Akron, OH
Project: Conducted a radio interviews, a blood drive and sent NATA e-cards to all high school and hospital administrators, coaches, etc … In addition, prior to the start of their Annual Sports Health Symposium, they played a dally slide show honoring Athletic Training Month.

(IL) Honorable Mention … Robert Flynn, ATC… Minooka Community High School
Project: Secured local NATM proclamations from several villages, involved the community to donate prizes for a school contest celebrating NATM, and an article was generated honoring one of the student athletic trainers that tied into NATM.
