To be eligible for this grant, you must be a certified member of the GLATA and be employed full-time as an athletic trainer (clinician or educator). One grant annually is available on a competitive basis for a certified student member.

Proposal Justification*

Purpose of project, relevance of the project to athletic training, review of pertinent literature, procedures, data collection tools, data analysis, and references - limit 3 pages (including references). Proposal resubmissions should begin with a section regarding explanation of key revisions and/or responses to reviewer comments (limit 1 page). Proposals should be single-spaced with margins of at least 1.0 inch, using a reasonable font size. In addition to the 3 pages, appendices (survey instruments required; additional literature review not permitted), timeline, and biographies of researchers are encouraged (2-page limit to include education, grants, publications, presentations, and awards/honors). IRB approval is expected before conducting any research.

Four grants are available annually: Bob Behnke Research Assistance Grant, Gordy Graham Research Assistance Grant, Gordy Stoddard Research Assistance Grant, and Thomas Weidner Research Assistance Grant.

This application must be submitted by January 15 or September 15, by 5:00 PM. Funding will be received in approximately one month. If you receive research money, you agree to: submit an abstract for possible inclusion in a Free Communications session at a GLATA annual winter meeting; give permission to publish the abstract on the GLATA web site and distribute in a GLATA E-blast;, and complete the project within one calendar year.
